Mauro Mariano was born on July 29, 1994 and raised in Nola (NA). His earliest musical influence was an old recording of Django Reinhardt which affected his initial approach to jazz music.
Mauro Mariano is an Italian jazz guitarist, composer, bandleader, producer, and educator. His compositions range from mellow to harmonically complex and also reveal a subtle, perfect blend between the jazz language and European music influences. Mauro Mariano is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Jazz Arranging and Composition from Conservatory Domenico Cimarosa in Avelino, Italy. While studying with the top arranger Gianluigi Giannatempo, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Guitar at the Conservatory of Naples and has since studied with Pietro Condorelli and Marco Sannini.
Mariano has perfected his studies around Europe and the United States thanks to several scholarships that were awarded to him. With a special interest he has been able to study with Peter Hertmans, Frank Vaganèe and Dré Pallemaerts at the “Campus Lemmens LUCA” in Leuven (Belgium) and studied composition at the Academy of music in Latvia. He was also given the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Missouri where he studied arranging and composition with Samuel Griffith, the head of the jazz department. Ultimately Mariano’s own personal musical arrangements were performed at multiple concerts by MU’s Concert Jazz Band.
Mariano is an active performer and has performed at the Marigliano Jazz Festival and other minor stages.
